Master Artist: Bruce Nauman

Bruce Nauman is an American artist born in 1941. Nauman is known for his experimentation with use of light and photography. He uses shadows in an unsettling way.   

Current Artist: Cindy Sherman

Cynthia Morris Sherman is an American artist whose work consists primarily of photographic self-portraits, depicting herself in many different contexts and as various imagined characters.

Ideas: My ideas for this piece displays how mirrors and reflection show the generational harm of self image. 

Materials: Acrylic paints, canvas

Processes: I studied how light sources affect their surroundings and the bounce lighting off different objects.

​Master Artist: Vincent Van GoghVincent van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter who  became one of the most influential figures in Western art history. In a decade, he created about 2,100 artworks, including around 860 oil paintings, most of which date from the last two years of his life.

Current Artist: Mark Tennant

Mark Tennant is a contemporary American artist, most known for his piece "showgirl." His work shows a lot of shadow, light, and color.

Ideas: The ideas behind this piece show how differently women are rewarded in a workplace.

Materials: Graphite, white paper

Processes: I studied foreshadowing for the wood, and theater lighting and settings. 

Master Artist: Gerhard Richter 

Gerhard Richter was born in Germany in 1932, and is most famous for his paintings which shift from photo realism to abstract works. He was the first artist that was able to shift his paintings to pure abstraction.

Current Artist: Chuck Close:

Chuck Close was was an American painter visual artist and painter. He made large scaled photorealistic self portraits and portraits of others. He was born July 5 1940 and his full name is Charles Thomas Close.

Ideas: My ideas behind this connect to the mirror aspect, and how easily we let self image control our lives.

Processes: I had to think about how bright white lighting affects facial feaures.

Materials: graphite, whtie paper
